there is a part of me that will eternally be fond of old arcades. yea sure, the games are mostly two players, and when you play them alone you are wasting quarters and valuable friend making time, but I will always love them. 

when I was like 8 till I was about 13 we used to go camping at a campground called walnut ridge, by campground, I mean place where rich people parked campers and pretended to “get away from it all” it was usually just me, my brother and sister, and a friend or two we met there who just ran around in the woods playing as knights or wizards and shit. it was fun, but the best part was the bait shop, because in the back they had an old arcade….like all the games were just classic late 80s awesome. 

they had Q-bert and dragon slayer, and atleast 2 racing games where you have the big stupid peripheral where you are in a drivers seat. they even had the old super mario bros where its just you and luigi running around in that one room witht he pow block at the bottom of the screen. but, they also had marvel VS capcom, and as bad as a character as he was/still is, I always played as megaman.  

but one day, they built a pool next to the arcade, and then people actually stared using the arcade other then just me and my friends. so they started buying games that would bring in more money. so they got a basketball shooting thing, and a few star wars games, and a pinball indiana jones. they also got rid of marvel v capcom, and replaced it with a sonic the hedgehog fighting game, that was terrible. I havent gone back the the old campground in a long time, but I know they dont have an arcade anymore.

and that makes me sad.
